Einleitung
Es wird empfohlen, alle 5000 Meilen (ca. 8000 km) das Motoröl und den Ölfilter zu wechseln.
Was du brauchst

Der Zughebel der Haube befindet sich auf der Fahrerseite gleich neben der Auflage für den linken Fuß.

Ziehe den Hebel zu dir, damit sich die Haube öffnet.

Gehe vor die Motorhaube.
-
Greife mit der Hand unter die Haube, direkt über dem Markenzeichen. Dort ist ein Fanghaken, den du ziehen musst um die Haube zu entsichern.

Wenn das passiert ist kannst du die Haube anheben.

Halte die Haube mit der linken Hand und ziehe die Haltestange aus der Klammer.
-
Setze die Haltestange mit dem oberen Ende in die Öffnung oben links an der Haube ein.

Die Haube steht nun fest auf der Haltestange.

Platziere den hydraulischen Wagenheber unter dem Fahrzeug, bis der Heberarm direkt unter dem Querträger steht.

Betätige die Stange des Wagenhebers, bis der Heberarm die Querstrebe berührt. Dann kannst du den Wagen einfach weiter herauf pumpen.

Bewege den Wagenheberbock nach oben, bis er am dafür vorgesehenen Punkt sauber anliegt.

Entferne den Ölmessstab, indem du ihn nach oben ziehst.

Wische das Öl vom Messstab komplett ab und schiebe ihn wieder in die Vorrichtung.

Ziehe den Messstab erneut heraus und prüfe den Ölstand. Der Stand sollte innerhalb der zwei gepunkteten Markierungen auf dem Stab sein.

Auf dem Motordeckel befindet sich die Öleinfüllschraube. Drehe sie heraus.

-
Krieche auf dem Rücken unter die Frontseite deines Autos, um die Ölablassschraube zu identifizieren.

Wenn irgendwelche Öl- oder andere Rückstände an der Ablassschraube sind, wische diese weg, bevor du fortfährst.

Lege den Ölauffangbehälter unter das Fahrzeug in Höhe der Ölablassschraube und löse die Schraube mit einem Schraubenschlüssel der Schlüsselweite 17 mm.

Löse die Ablasschraube langsam mit der Hand bis du die Schraube vollständig herausgedrehst und gezogen hast. Das Öl beginnt abzulaufen. Positioniere den Auffangbehälter gegebenenfalls neu.

Lasse das Öl komplett ablaufen, ersetze danach die Ölablasschraube und schraube sie fest.

Bringe den Ölauffangbehälter vom Fahrzeug weg.

Ziehe ihn mit einem Drehmomentschlüssel an:

33 lbf-ft (45 N-m, 4.6 kgf-m) für 4-Zylinder-Modelle
-
oder 29 lbf-ft (39 N-m, 4.0 kgf-m) für 6-Zylinder-Modelle.

Lege die Auffangwanne beiseite.

Identifiziere den Ölfilter und platziere den Ölauffangbehälter unterhalb des Filters, um das herauslaufende Öl aufzufangen.

Nimm eine Wasserpumpenzange, umfasse den Ölfilter fest mit beiden Backen und drehe den Ölfilter gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, um ihn zu lösen. Du kannst auch einen Ölfilterschlüssel mit elastischem Band benutzen.

Entleere das restliche Öl aus dem Filter, indem du diesen mit der offenen Seite nach unten in den Ölauffangbehälter gibst.

Nimm den Ersatzfilter und verteile etwas sauberes Motoröl auf die Dichtung des neuen Filters.

Drehe den Filter am Ölfilteranschluss im Uhrzeigersinn ein.

Sobald die Gummidichtung am Motorblock aufliegt, drehe den Filter noch eine Viertelumdrehung im Uhrzeigersinn weiter.
Put a new washer on the drain bolt, then reinstall the drain bolt. Tighten it to: 33 lbf·ft (45 N·m , 4.6 kgf·m) for 4-cylinder models or 29 lbf·ft (39 N·m , 4.0 kgf·m) for 6-cylinder models.

You should not tighten oil filters with channel locks. Per Honda they are hand tightened plus a quarter turn.

You should do it while the engine is hot so the oil drains faster. Removing the the fill cap should be done before removing the drain plug. That will also help the oil drain faster and more completely. And 5 quarts is too much for that engine. It's more like 4.4 or 4.5 quarts. Over filling it is really bad. The counterweights on the crankshaft will splash in the oil creating a froth with air bubbles in it causing the oil to not lubricate the engine well which will wear out the engine faster

Don't change oil when really hot. You WILL burn yourself.
NO, do not work on the engine “while hot.” The metal may expand and make the drain plug and filter harder to unscrew. You can also burn yourself with any oil that splashes.
Reset the oil change indicator:
Turn the key to the "on" position (be sure to not start the vehicle)
Press the Select/Reset knob used to access the odometer and trip readings until it displays the oil life percentage
Press and hold the knob until the oil life percentage begins to blink
Release the knob
Depress the knob again until the oil life percentage resets to 100%

The oil pan drain plug will have a washer on it. Acts as a gasket. Don't lose it. You shoul use a new one each oil change.
Changed oil in I've 200 cars and have never seen this washer you speak of.
Then you’ve messed up on 200 cars because he is right…there is a washer( crush washer/gasket) that if you did not buy a new one u MUST RE-use…..knucklehead!!

People recommend 5w-20 full synthetic but 5w-20 high mileage should still get the job done.

Always look at the old filter to make sure the rubber gasket is on it. If it’s not, It’s stuck on the block and you have to remove it before you install the new filter.

2004 v6 3.0 litre takes 4.6 quarts. Not 5. NEVER OVERFILL YOUR OIL.

I checked my oil didnt notice it was on a hill and it was a little above the 1st notch. I only put a half quart in and when i checked at home on level its quite a bit over the second mark. Ive been driving it for 2 months no problems but i worried the seal would blow but ive heard the frothing of crankshift makes air bubbles and will wear out faster. Ive only put about 1500 miles on it how much damage do you think ive done?. Its 2007 fit runs great i just havent had time. I guess i should do it pretty quick i just cant figure how a half quart could raise it that much. I guess i already know the answer go do it just wondering how much damage i could have done?
If you haven't had problems, the "damage" could be minimal. But we're not psychic, you'll need to have a mechanic evaluate the engine condition for any problems from overfilling. Live and learn, now you know not to fill while on an incline again. :)
I change my oil every 5.000 miles like clockwork I did a compression test a few weeks ago and it's only lost about 2% of it compression and done 160.000 miles so well worth it
