Over time, your cabin air filter will become clogged with dust, leaves, hair, and other debris, leading to reduced cabin air flow. Toyota recommends replacing the cabin air filter every 10,000 miles, and charges a premium to do it. Follow this guide to replace your cabin air filter and save yourself money and time. Replacement will take about 5 minutes, and requires no tools. I used the STP CAF1816P cabin air filter found at a local auto parts store, but the Corolla will accept a variety of aftermarket cabin air filters, including the TYC 800025P and the FRAM CF10285.

This is great! Thank you so much :) Saved $80
The direction of airflow is definitely from top to bottom. I stuck a piece of paper in while the cabin filter was out with fan running, it pulled the paper downward. Be careful not to let the paper go too low because it will hit the fan just a couple inches below the filter compartment.
Very useful. TY
