Einleitung

Replacing older homes aluminum wired receptacle with copper wiring reducing risk of fire to modern homes.

  1. Ensure to follow every step in Step 1 to avoid electrocution.
    • Ensure to follow every step in Step 1 to avoid electrocution.

    • Check to ensure Receptacle Tester is working properly.

    • Locate the Breaker Panel and breaker for the Receptacle (generally will be a 15A or 20A).

    • Switch the breaker to OFF position

    • Check to ensure none of the lights on tester is lit.

  2. Unscrew the screw securing the receptacle faceplate.
    • Unscrew the screw securing the receptacle faceplate.

    • Unscrew the screws securing the receptacle to box.

    • Pull receptacle from the box.

    • Unscrew all screws securing a wire from receptacle.

    • Remove all wires from the receptacle.

    • Cut all damaged wires and trim to proper length (1/2-inch of bare wire each end).

    • Tie the aluminum and copper wires by twisting it together.

    • Secure the wires by using wing nut wire connectors.

    • Create a hook form for each wires.

    • Connect and secure black insulated wire to hot side of receptacle.

    • Connect and secure white insulated wire to neutral side of receptacle.

    • Connect and secure bare wire to ground port of receptacle.

    • Wrap electrical tape to ensure no wires short when reassemble.

    • Bend the wires and push receptacle in the box.

    • Secure the receptacle in box with screws.

    • Secure the faceplate with the screw.

    • Locate the Breaker Panel and breaker for the Receptacle (generally will be a 15A or 20A).

    • Switch the breaker to ON position.

    • Check if the needed lights is lit to state "CORRECT WIRING."
