Barstool Seat Cushion Replacement

Remove the four hex screws under the barstool using an Allen wrench.

If your stool has a backrest, remove it by unscrewing the two hex screws with an Allen wrench.

Remove the four Phillips screws.

Grab and lift the metal frame and push the seat out at the same time.

Remove the staples around the bottom of the stool.

Lift the bottom fabric off.

Remove any remaining staples.

Remove the board from the foam and fabric.

Take the new foam, lay it flat on a surface, and place the board in the center of it.

Take a marker and trace around the board onto the foam.

Draw another circle about two inches around the first one to ensure there is extra room for cutting.

Cut the second circle using a box cutter.

Place the board back on to ensure it fits right.

Remove the board and cut the first circle you made with the box cutter.

To create the domed shape for the seat, flip the foam over and shave cut into and around the foam.

Place the fabric flat on your workspace, then center the foam and board on top of it with the domed side facing down against the fabric.

Trace a circle onto the fabric by running a marker directly against the edge of the board.

Draw a second, larger circle about five inches outside the first line.

Cut out the second circle.

Place the pieces in the center of the first circle.

Place sewing pins in the four tiny holes.

Apply downward pressure to the board, pull a section of the fabric tight toward yourself, and secure it to the edge of the board with a staple.

Rotate the board and repeat this process along the entire perimeter until the fabric is completely secured.

Trim away any excess fabric remaining outside the staple line.

Place the bottom fabric back on the bottom.

Line it up with the sewing pins, and place the pins back in the holes.

Staple the fabric in place all along the edge of the board.

Align the metal frame with the sewing pins and place it flat against the board.

Remove the sewing pins one at a time, replacing each one with a Phillips screw to secure the plate in place.

Place the stool frame or legs onto the bottom of the seat, aligning them with the four pre-drilled holes.

Use the Allen wrench to tighten the hex screws and secure the legs to the base.

Flip the barstool over, slide the backrest back in place, and screw them back in place.

The barstool is now complete.
