Thanks for the guide! Removing the stainless top with a prying tool didn't work for me, but I put the scale a few minutes on an electronics convection preheater and that helped to undo the glue.

Replacing the battery was pretty straightforward. The white glue is very soft and can be removed easily.

what was the battery type? specs and dimensions? can you send a link to an adequate battery replacement?

Nathan Santos -

Nathan, sorry for the late reply, I didn't get any notification.

The battery is a lithium ion or polymer type with integrated protection circuit.

Specs are: 3.7V, 1500mA, 5.55Wh, size code 803450, so 8mm thick, 34mm wide and 50mm long

I replaced mine with a lower capacity one I had laying around. You can easily find them on Amazon.

Just a hint for the replacement procedure, when you solder in a new battery: Cut the battery wires at different lengths. By doing so, you avoid shorting out the battery accidentally, once the insulation material is stripped off ;-)

Cheers,
Andre

I have a Brewista Scale II and its not like this. It doesnt have the plastic plate under the steel plate. The steel plate seems to be screwed onto the lower part of the scale, the board.

Are you sure? I found it very difficult to spot a gap between the steel plate and the plate beneath. That's way heating up the steel plate to soften the glue made this process a lot easier.
