This is a necessary procedure for replacing the flash of the Canon EOS Rebel XS 35mm camera, which is located on top of the camera. This guide details how to remove the flash and put a flash back in, whether it's the same flash now fixed, or a new one.

Pull up on the flash / the camera part housing the flash, as shown in the pictures. If this isn't working, try these things not shown in the pictures: 1) using a spudger, your nail, or the like to pry it open; or 2) pull it open with your finger and thumb on either side of it.

Using a PH000 screwdriver bit, remove the two silver screws circled in the picture. Both screws are 5 mm in length and about 1.25 mm in diameter.
