If your Garmin Edge 1000 has stopped charging, or holding a charge, use this guide to replace the Micro SD+SIM card tray holder.

Hold the device front side down. Remove the eight T6 Torx screws along the backside of the device.

Pull the front side of the device apart from the back side.

Disconnect the bronze SIM card flex cable from the motherboard with your finger.

Disconnect the battery cord to completely separate the front cover from the back cover of the device with your finger.

Take a metal spudger and use force to push the micro USB port out of its socket on the other end.

Use the metal spudger once again to use force and push the SIM card port out of its socket. This will allow you to remove this piece entirely and insert a new charging port into the same place.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Hello, Taylor et all. I have an issue with the Edge 1000 not reading the SD card. How do I know if this is a problem with the card slot and not the motherboard? This model is considered discontinued and I cannot expect help from Garmin. Regards.
