Einleitung
In this guide the thermal switch has come loose in the grill and is preventing the grill from heating up. The bottom grill plate should be removed to reach the support mount, where the screw hole threads have worn down and need to be rethreaded with new screws added.

Remove the bottom grill plate by unlatching the grill clamps on the sides.

Remove the Phillips head screws from the plate section with a # 1 Phillips head screw driver.

Remove the two Phillips head screws from the bottom of the grill.

Slightly lift the silver plate from the grill base to reveal the interior wiring

Reach inside the grill and disconnect the wires from the underside of the silver plate.

Once the wires are disconnected, the grill can be opened more.

Take the # 1 Phillips head screw driver to unscrew the wire clamp from the thermal switch mount.

Gently move the loose thermal switch away from the mount.

Next remove the old mount screws from the inside of the grill.

To correct the stripped threads, take a power drill with a 1/8 inch drill bit and drill the existing screw holes to resize for new screws.

Use a tap handle with a 6/32 inch size thread tap.

Place the tap into the screw holes and rethread the holes by turning the tap handle in a clockwise direction.

Take the switch and align its screw holes with the holes on the plate.

Add the two new 4.76 x 6.35mm screws to the holes.

Take a 3/32 inch size Allen wrench to fasten the new screws.

I don't have THAT problem; I have a broken wire connection, but I don't know if I need to complete strip the wire to fix it...Thanks!
Hi, good info. Thanks. My Evo grill the power comes on for a blink and shuts off. I think it is this safety switch. The screws and housing were not loose. There is a spring under the switch, but that is for the entire switch, not the actual plunger. As the one above does not have the spring, So I think the spring is just a way to cushion the movement of the switch when the plate is put on. Maybe to stop the issue that is listed here, and that gets the screws loose.
On the switch there is no plunger movement on the silver button on top. And I can;’t see how having the entire switch move up and down creates any contact - no contact circuit. So I think my switch is bad. I might try to find another switch or a work around with the wiring. I am the only one that uses the unit and I keep the plate on all the time. Just thought I would comment on my situation.
Ok, I was thinking the silver button on the lower plate was moving switch that would not let the unit turn on unless the lower plate was installed. That does NOT appear to be correct. I think this is a temperature sensor. The GRP 4800 R has temperature control, and that silver button has to be it. There is a black speaker (for beep sounds) on the circuit board, but nothing else that appears to be a thermostat. Also the unit beeps when the selected temp is reached, so there is a temp sensor somewhere, and that is all I can see that would be it.
And it may also be part of a cut off system where if say the signal is broken, ie the unit catches on fire, then that tell the circuit board to cut off. But not sure on that point.
The other option is the red button power switch on the circuit board is bad. Or some other part of the circuit board is bad. I inspected the solder connections and did not see any charred or loose connections. The circuit board is marked TSD 2623 Control.

Did you ever find a replacement switch? I’m having the same issue and cannot find a suitable replacement switch.
