How to Clean Burnt Food Off a Glass Stovetop

Videoanleitung
Diese Anleitung wurde von einem YouTube-Video übertragen.

Was du brauchst

    • Turn off the stove, make sure the surface is completely cool, and clear everything off the cooktop.

    • WARNING: Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the stove if possible, especially if you’re cleaning near touch controls.

    • Caution: Don’t scrape or scrub a cracked cooktop, because pressure can worsen the crack and create sharp edges.

    • Get a glass cooktop cleaner and polish, glass cooktop scrubbing pads, and a razor scraper with fresh blades.

    • Get a rag or microfiber cloth for wiping up residue, and a container of water for rinsing the pad if needed.

    • Caution: Use a sturdy, well-made razor scraper, because weak holders can let the blade slip out under heavy pressure.

    • Note: Wear earplugs if scraping noise bothers you, because heavy scraping can be loud and unpleasant.

    • Check the center area for dull, gray discoloration that doesn’t look like raised food or grease.

    • Note: Center discoloration is often metal deposits from low-quality pans and can be very hard to clean out completely.

    • Apply a generous amount of glass cooktop cleaner and polish across the cooktop.

    • Use plenty of cleaner on a very dirty stove, but don’t use the whole bottle, because heavy buildup often needs multiple passes.

    • Use a glass cooktop scrubbing pad to scrub the entire cooktop, pressing firmly to cut through burnt-on buildup.

    • Add extra cleaner directly onto the burner rings that are heavily stained, and scrub them longer than the rest of the surface.

    • Scrub for several minutes, spending about five minutes overall and up to seven minutes on the burners for heavy buildup.

    • Note: Months or years of buildup won’t come off easily, so expect to use pressure and time.

    • Hold the razor scraper at a shallow angle and scrape around the burner rings and across stuck-on areas to lift the crud.

    • Start around a 15° to 20° angle rather than scraping straight down at 90°.

    • Increase to a steeper angle, up to about 75°, for stubborn debris that won’t release at a shallow angle.

    • WARNING: Keep fingers clear of the blade, and stop if the blade shifts, loosens, or tries to push out of the holder.

    • Caution: Don’t gouge the surface, and don’t force a flimsy scraper, because heavy pressure can bend it and make it unsafe.

    • Wipe away loosened cleaner and debris with a rag to see what’s left on the glass.

    • Check that the deepest cooked-on deposits are gone, even if lighter residue and haze remain.

    • Note: A lightly soiled cooktop may look good after this first pass, but heavy buildup usually needs a second pass.

    • Clean out the scrubbing pad, apply more cooktop cleaner, and scrub the cooktop again to remove remaining residue.

    • Spend several minutes scrubbing, because this pass is meant to remove leftover haze and smaller stuck-on spots.

    • Note: Using a fresh, dry pad can work better than reusing a soaked pad, because water can dilute the cleaner.

    • Use the razor scraper again over any remaining burnt spots and residue after the second scrub.

    • Watch the cleaner color as you work, because it can turn brown as more junk lifts off the cooktop.

    • Wipe the cooktop clean with a rag to remove all cleaner and loosened debris.

    • Compare the cooktop to its starting condition and look for clearer burner rings and a brighter overall surface.

    • Note: Heavy buildup can improve from extremely dirty to significantly cleaner after two passes, even if minor discoloration remains.

Abschluss

If burner rings or burnt spots still show, repeat the cleaner-and-scrub pass and spot-scrape again rather than trying to remove everything in a single aggressive session. If the center area stays discolored but feels smooth, it may be permanent metal deposit staining from cookware, not removable food residue. Store the razor scraper safely, and dispose of used blades in a puncture-resistant container.
