How to Increase HD size of 13" Macbook Air (A1466) - iFixit Reparaturanleitung

Einleitung

This guide shows how to increase the hard drive size of the 2013-2017 MacBook Air 13" (A1466), by adding an M2 SSD.

You'll need:

NVME M.2 SSD - I used samsung 970 EVO Plus 250 GB NVME M.2
Sintech Adapter kit e.g. https://mackabler.dk/ngff-m2-pcie-ssd-ko...
Alternatively you may use OWC SSD, which does not require adapter - see https://www.owcdigital.com/products/aura....
However OWC ssds are slower than the newest Samsung SSDs.
Recovery USB disk with OSX - ref https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201372 I used Catalina.

Schritt 1 Backup Machine

First, make a time machine backup of the Mac to an external USB disk.

Schritt 2 Recovery Mode

Boot in recovery mode (power + alt) to start from recovery disk.

Schritt 3 Format SSD

Then format the new SSD in Disk Utility (erase + first aid).

Schritt 4 Shutdown Mac

Shutdown down mac, remove back plate, disconnect battery.

Schritt 5 Install SSD

Then install new SSD in M2 enclosure and swap it with old SSD.

Schritt 6 Boot Machine

Boot in recovery mode (power + alt) to start from recovery disk.

Schritt 7 Mount External USB

Mount external USB disk from (2).

Schritt 8 Restore Backup

Finally, restore time machine backup from (2) to new SSD.

Abschluss

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
