Einleitung
This is a guide on how repair or reattach a belt loop on a pair of dress pants. For this repair you will need a sewing machine, thread, scissors, and sewing pins (optional). When sewing, make sure you are not wearing loose clothing and tie back hair that could get caught in the machine. This is a useful repair because dress pants can be expensive to replace if a piece goes missing or is damaged, and this repair can make it less likely for you to need to replace your dress pants.

Thread the sewing machine with a thread that matches your pants.

Pin the belt loop seam side up so that the top of the loop is 1/4 inch above the seam.

Sew using a straight stitch along the seam.

Use the reverse feature on the sewing machine to go over the stitches three times.

Once the sewing foot is down and the needle is in the fabric you can remove the pin.

Fold the interfacing over so that it is out of the way of the needle.

Sew the belt loop a 1/4 inch below the seam using a straight stitch.

Trim the belt loop's excess length so that there is a 1/4 inch overlap.

Sew the top of the belt loop with an 1/8 inch seam allowance, using a straight stitch.
