Replacing a worn door gasket keeps steam, odours and heat inside the oven, saving energy and protecting nearby cabinets. A working oven light lets you monitor food without opening the door and losing heat. Both jobs are quick beginner-level tasks you can handle yourself with minimal tools.

Schritt 1 Disconnect stove from mains power

Unplug the stove from the electrical outlet before beginning any repair.

Schritt 2 Release the door gasket

Lift the small metal hooks along the door frame to release the gasket.
Work around the perimeter until the entire seal is free.
Remove the gasket the same way during routine cleaning.
On pyrolytic ovens the gasket must be pried in and out piece by piece.

Schritt 3 Prepare the new gasket

Clean the groove and the gasket with a cloth to remove grease and crumbs.
Hold the gasket so it sits square with the stitched joint positioned at the bottom.

Schritt 4 Install the new gasket

Hook the first corner of the gasket onto the upper catch in the frame.
Stretch the gasket lightly and snap each metal hook into its slot around the door.
Maintain slight tension so the seal lies even and untwisted.

Schritt 5 Inspect the installed gasket

Confirm every hook is engaged; a missing hook lets steam escape and stains cabinets.

Schritt 6 Unscrew the light cover

Locate the oven light inside the cavity and grasp the glass cover.
Twist the cover counter-clockwise to loosen it; some models pull straight out.
If it is stuck, wrap a cloth around the cover and turn it gently with water-pump pliers.
Avoid clamping bare pliers on the glass to prevent cracking.

Schritt 7 Remove the old bulb

Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.

Schritt 8 Fit the high-temperature oven bulb

Insert a high-temperature oven bulb rated for about 350 °C into the socket.
Standard household bulbs will burn out after the first bake and must not be used.
Tighten the bulb by hand until snug.
