How to replace the drive belt in your food processor

Was du brauchst

    • Unplug the food processor from the wall outlet.

    • Remove the bowl, blades, and any other accessories.

    • Set the loose parts aside to prevent damage or loss.

    • Insert a flat screwdriver under a rubber foot on the base.

    • Lever the foot out to reveal the hidden screw below.

    • Repeat for every foot that hides a screw hole.

    • Select screwdrivers that match the actual screw heads used on your model.

    • Unscrew all exposed screws and set them aside safely.

    • Lift the bottom cover off the housing to access the drive area.

    • Keep the screws and feet together so nothing is misplaced during reassembly.

    • Check whether the belt is torn, overstretched, or merely slipped off a pulley.

    • Heavy dough loads can push a healthy belt off its pulleys without tearing it.

    • Take the old belt to a shop that specializes in belts to obtain an identical replacement.

    • Match the new belt by overall length, tooth pitch, and tooth thickness.

    • Use the printed markings on the old belt to help the vendor supply the correct type.

    • Locate the four screws that secure the motor to its mounting plate.

    • Loosen each screw just enough for the motor to slide on its slots.

    • Support the motor so its weight does not strain the loose screws.

    • Add a few drops of machine oil to the lower motor shaft bushing.

    • Keep oil away from the pulley teeth to avoid belt slippage.

    • Loop the belt over the large drive pulley first.

    • Slip the belt onto the motor pulley.

    • Pull the motor away until the belt deflects about 3 to 5 mm under firm thumb pressure.

    • Hold the motor in position and tighten two opposite mount screws.

    • Re-check belt flex, then tighten the remaining mount screws fully.

    • Place the bottom cover back onto the housing.

    • Insert and tighten all cover screws securely.

    • Press the cleaned rubber feet back into their recesses until flush.

    • Reconnect power and run the motor briefly with no load to verify smooth, quiet operation.

    • Confirm that the belt stays centred on the pulleys without walking off.

    • Unplug the appliance before continuing to further work.

    • Remove the single screw securing the upper gearbox cover.

    • Lift the cover carefully, protecting any scale or sensor wiring inside.

    • Undo the three small screws that hold the gearbox plate in place.

    • Lift the gearbox plate along with its bushing and washers.

    • Spread industrial grease on the metal bushing and plastic gear teeth while rotating the gear by hand.

    • Apply grease to the shaft and the bushing inside the cover.

    • Use grease formulated for plastic gears to prevent chemical damage.

    • Return the washers to their original order on the shaft.

    • Seat the gearbox plate and insert all three screws finger-tight.

    • Tighten the screws in an alternating pattern so the plate sits evenly.

    • Re-fit the outer cover and secure its screw.

    • Photograph each disassembly stage to help identify screw positions during reassembly.

Abschluss

A correctly tensioned belt and fresh lubrication can bring even decades-old food processors back to full performance. Repeat lubrication and belt checks whenever the machine starts to slip or sound dry to keep it working like the first day.
