Einleitung

The rear-facing camera may be causing problems due to either the ribbon cable not being connected properly or because the camera is broken. This guide should help you fix both problems.

  1. Power off your phone before beginning disassembly. Insert a thumbnail, or a prying tool like a spudger, into the notch at the bottom left of the back cover.

  8. Remove the eight Phillips #00 screws (4 mm length).

  9. Insert an opening pick between the bottom right corner of the motherboard cover and the motherboard. Pry up the motherboard cover to open the plastic clamps which hold the cover in its place. The clamps can be a bit restive. In case you're having trouble to open them you can flip the opening pick a bit sideways to make the process easier.

  10. Get a good grip to the motherboard cover assembly and start to lift the right edge of it. The remaining plastic clamps should open during this process or can be unhinged easily by hand. Remove the motherboard assembly.

  16. Slide the opening under the right edge of the motherboard where the sim card slot is located and pry it up by flipping the opening pick sideways until you can get a good grip to it.   18. Take the plastic opening tool and remove the rear-facing camera by wedging it into the sides and lifting up The rear-facing camera is kept in place with a double-sided tape, so it may take some time and effort to get it out. Attack it from all sides

perfect. Camera had stopped functioning on my G3 (due to some clumsiness on my part). Followed the steps and disconnect camera ribbon, then reconnected and reassembled. Now all functioning perfectly.

how was it not functioning? Mine suddenly wont even detect that there is a back camera and I am debating whether to try this and risk ruining the phone or just spending the extra cash and having it done professionally since I can't get a new one until april.

Mine the camera started crashing 'unfortunately camera stopped' but the selfie cam worked. Reset did nothing have to try this.

Excellent guide.    Bad auto focus, replaced -> works !

Would add in step 6, top panel is held on by small plastic tabs on the edges.

As with all electronic dis/assembly, make sure take appropriate anti-static precautions.
