Einleitung

This guide will show you how to replace the daughterboard in your Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Generation laptop. The daughterboard is home to the right-side USB port, so if this port goes bad, a daughterboard replacement will likely alleviate the issue.

  1.     • This step is important to prevent electrical damage to internal components.

    • Restart the computer. When the Lenovo logo is displayed, immediately press enter, then press F1 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility

    • Use the arrow keys to select Config→Power.

    • Select "Disable Built-in Battery".

    • The battery will be re-enabled when the charger is connected.

    • Before you begin, unplug the laptop to avoid electric shocks.

    • Flip the laptop over on a flat surface with the back panel facing up.

    • Remove the five 5 mm Phillips #0 screws from the edge of the back panel.

    • Insert an opening tool between the back panel and edge. Maneuver the tool around the panel, disconnecting the clips holding the panel in place.

    • Lift the back panel away from the device, exposing the internals.

    • When reassembling, prioritize the tabs on the side that does not have any screws. This ensures that the tabs do not break.

    • Remove five 5mm Phillips #0 screws from the edges of the battery.

    • Use an opening tool to gently lift up the battery connector from its motherboard socket.

    • Avoid metal tweezers to remove the connector as metal to metal contact can damage the device.

    • Lift the battery straight up and out of device.

    • Remove the two 1.3 mm screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Disconnect the interconnect cable from the motherboard by flipping up the locking lever and pulling out the ribbon cable.

    • Lift the right side of the daughterboard up, then slide the daughterboard to the right to remove it from the computer.
