  • Unscrew the 0.266 inch top-left screw with a T6 Torx Screwdriver.

  • Be sure to remove the stylus in order to access the screw.

Use a T5 Torx screwdriver instead of a T6. T6 is too big.

  • Using the spudger, remove the rubber rectangular cover located in the upper right hand side of the device.

  • Unscrew the 0.266 inch screw with the T6 Torx Screwdriver.

    • If there is a red Palm sticker covering the screw, just puncture it to access the screw.

  • Remove the remaining two 0.266 inch screws at the bottom of the device.

  • Turn the phone 90 degrees to the right, so the screen is facing the right side.

  • Use a spudger to carefully separate the back panel from the front panel to access all the various components inside the phone.

  • Separate the covers from the left side of the device as indicated in the picture. The right side contains orange ribbons that are easily damaged.

  • Take the slim metal plate and slide it upwards, until it disconnects from the logic board.

  • DO NOT bend or crinkle this metal plate. It will be VERY DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, to slide it back into place when you are re-assembling if you crinkle or bend this metal plate.

  • Set the metal plate aside for now.

  • Take the tweezers and locate the orange ribbon that connects the screen to the logic board.

  • There is a small piece of tape over the orange ribbon connector. Peal this off.

  • Slide the metal spundger between the orange ribbon and black connector. Flip the black connector upwards, releasing the orange ribbon.

  • Pull the orange ribbon away from the connector, in order to make sure wire is fully disconnected.

  • Now carefully turn the phone over so the screen is facing you.

  • Locate the other orange ribbon connecting the logic board to the face plate.

  • Take the spundger and slide it between the orange ribbon and tan connector. Life the tan connector up, releasing the orange ribbon.

  • Separate the logic board and face plate of the Palm Treo.

  • Ta Da! You now have the logic board separated from the phone! Here is what it should look like, on both sides.

  • Take the face plate of Treo, and locate the backside of it.

  • Unscrew the two screws on the back, using the T6 sized screwdriver.

Kommentar hinzufügen

  • Take off the plastic back panel, in order to gain access to the rubber keys of the keyboard.

  • Simply push on the keys and function bar(from the front of the Treo). They should pop right out.
