This guide will outline how take apart your Proline strap lock and replace/repair the spring. I created this guide because my strap lock fell apart. I also had to replace the spring myself because the mechanism would not lock. This is not a guide to install the strap lock.. This document assumes you already have the strap lock installed on your strap and guitar.

To take apart the strap lock, take the black ball cap and turn it counterclockwise.
-
After you unscrew the ball cap, pull on the other side of the locking mechanism (opposite to the ball cap) to remove the spring and bar.
-
-
-
You should have these two parts removed from the rest of the lock mechanism.
-
If you do not have the spring or your spring is broken, you can get the spring described in the conclusion.

-
-
Once the spring is on, reassemble your strap lock by inserting the locking mechanism into the underside of the housing.
-
Then, screw back on the ball cap.
-
Your strap lock should now function well, but make sure to hand test the locking strength before using your guitar. As for the replacement spring, it is hard to buy a spring of this size individually. The dimensions of the spring are approximately as follows:
Inner Diameter: 4.5 mm (.177 in)
Outer Diameter: 5.3 mm (.209 in)
Free Length: 7.8 mm (.307 in)
As stated in step 2, if you cannot get a spring of this exact size, it is possible to cut a spring from a pen to length, and with a little stretching get it to the right dimensions.
