BEFORE attempting ANY repairs not only do you switch off the electrical socket but remove the plug from the socket.

I know some people will say “well that's obvious” but you would be totally amazed at how many “so called experts” don’t even bother.

How do I get the security screws out? What sort of tool do I need as they have a pin in the screw so I cant put an allan key or screw driver in it

    Elaine Martin - Antwort

You need a Torx screwdriver with a size T-15H bit (a T-15 will also work). It looks like a star.

The paddle stopped turning on mine and after fitting a replacement motor the heater and fan did not work but the paddle did. After careful examination of the circuit board I noticed that the larger of the two fuses had blown. It looks like an antisurge fuse and it was very difficult to see if it was blown but my meter confirmed it was U/S. Unfortunately the fuse needs to be desoldered and a replacement soldered back onto the circuit board. All good afterwards. Tefal need to think about their philosophy and try to make stuff that lasts longer than 12 months and is also easier to repair.

Thank you for the great guide. I'd like to mention a few things I discovered disassembling my actifry while following your instructions:

* the screws on my unit were regular torx - ie not security torx which have the pin in the middle that require bits with a corresponding hollow hole.

* the fan cover is made of very brittle plastic and is easy to break when trying to pry off.

* the fan cover is held by 3 tabs at the 9, 3, and 12'o clock positions. It is easiest to pry from the the tabs at 9 and 3'o clock positions.

Thank you!! I am not at all DIY minded. I ordered a part for £12 on amazon, founder a screwdriver in my husband's toolbox, and fixed my actifry in under 5 minutes. Fab guide thank you!

Hi I've just fitted a new motor but now not getting hot. Do you think I need to replace element too? Also my friend has an actifry with same problem but can't find a motor for the model AL806240. Any ideas where she can get one. The wires seem to sit differently than mine. Thank you

Jean Hennedy - Antwort

This is what is happening to mine. I have replaced the motor and now the actifry is not heating… did you find the solution? Thanks

l.z.macintyre -

Thanks, saved time figuring out exactly how to do it - though you need a couple of more pictures in the guide. I had to deform the case a bit in order to clear over the fan otherwise it cannot slip over the fan - people be careful not to stress the fan assembly: you should slide the case without touching the fan.

In my case, the security screws *just* got unscrewed by a not-security screwdriver bit so I just replaced them with normal philips ones on reassembly.

Muchas gracias. Pude arreglar mi Actifry gracias a su guía... Resulto perfecta,.

Resulta un poco difícil abrirla por los seguros plásticos, pero al final se pudo (uno se me rompió).

The stirring motor in my Actifry stopped turning. When I removed the motor there was a lot of black sludge around the motor's output shaft and brown nicotine colored sludge covering the top of the motor and leaking right out the bottom of the motor.

Seeing as the motor was of no use as it was, I carefully bent back the tabs and lifted the top containing the gear train off the motor. The whole inside was also coated in the thick gooey sludge.

The motor shaft itself was free to turn when powered up. So I cleaned up the gears and shafts with lacquer thinner which quickly evaporates and lubricated them. After reassembling the motor and bending the tabs back down, I was back in business.

I noticed that the smaller Actifry model has much less of a build-up than the larger unit. The smaller model has a rubber seal at the bottom of the paddle, while the larger unit does not, allowing the sludge to accumulate quicker in the larger model which has a timer power off function, which I love.

During the disassembly I accidentally let go of the wires attached to the motor. They're the same length and bend the same way. Does it make any difference which one goes where. I've senn one goes to J6 and one to J7 on the main board. Thx

Great advice, many thanks. I found my Actifry had the security torx screws, thought about it for a bit then used a fine centre punch and hammer to remove the little pins in the centre of the screws. It took a little care but meant that the torx screws came out easily. I also found that my motor was fine, it was just the drive shaft whose centre was driven clean, that did not engage to the motor. A very cheap fix but you do have to take the thing to pieces first.

I did see two fuses on the “mother board behind the fan. One tested without a problem the other one ( on the left) has most probably blown.

The motor for the chip rotor makes a “false” sound, so that might be shot.

Where in New Zealand would I be able to: either get it repaired or at least get a new motor?

Thanks so far.

Hi, I am wondering where in New Zealand I can buy a motor and get one of the 2 fuses replaces.

They are soldered in which is a nuisance.

Would have been nice if they were easy to be replaced.

I am not sure, but I think that the left fuse is for the fan on the back.

Cheers and thanks so far.

Ask them, if they ship to NZ.

Brilliant instructions fortunately I tried to unscrew the 3 screws before I bought the motor and realised I also needed to buy the special security screwdriver to remove them as well. very easy to follow instructions base fiddley to remove but no more than expected and gave a good opportunity to give all the parts a good clean. Simple as can be to remove and replace the motor and reassemble the u it. looks like new and working perfectly. Thank you

Hi. My paddle was seized therefore I disassembled the motor as per the above instructions. Magnet is fine but everything was gummed up from grease. Cleaned everything, reassembled but now paddle is turning the wrong way?! In reverse! Help!

Did you ever resolve? My guess would be the wires gof crossed.

thanks! But as already mentioned on the comments, the fan cover is really easy to break while trying to disassembly it. I will glue it again, and well, it does not change the device funcionallity, but need to be mentioned

Tefal Actifry Ah9500 error 6 manual guide does not help at all.The actifry stop working some times between 10-40 minutes of working.Any body knows what should be done to fix it?

p Takook - Antwort

Error codes are useless even if you were a technician… it could be some resistor that when it overheats, shut down the device.

Daniele Carminati -

Here a page - well, it´s in german, use google translate - with solutions for common issues and errorcodes for Tefal Actifry. Error Code 6 is a little bit strange, voltage to high. Hmm, how can this happen?

VauWeh -

IMHO it is a pull down resistor in the power supply or on the board that is blowned shorted, so that the board gets a tension too high

Daniele Carminati -

I have repaired a family members device and the motor inside their actifry did not have the spades on the connection. I cut the terminal wires, put new spades on via crimping and connected to the new spaded motor and worked just fine.

Declan Green - Antwort

Our paddle still turns. I've disassembled the unit and removed the heater element. That show 42ohms so I think it's ok. The fryer fan doesn't turn however and the fuse f2 is open circuit. I can get the motor assembly which includes the fuse. But would prefer a diagnosis prior to pulling out the parts gun!

Anyone delved deeper?

Gareth butler - Antwort

I spoke to tefal, they do not help with troubleshooting, nor sell parts to consumers (from their twitter team).

They recommend only that you send it to the repair center and pay them…

Gareth butler -

I followed the guide but had trouble removing the front and back covers, managed in the end but they were brittle and will need replacing at next repair. Overall a quick and easy job and the replacement cost under £14 and arrived within 48hrs of ordering it

How do I replace the timer batteries

babsrog - Antwort

I followed the instructions and managed to get the bottom casing off, I could see the motors but couldn’t tell which one is making the loud grinding noise. I suspect it would be the one with the fan, Without touching anything i switched it on for about 20 seconds to see if I could hear or see anything, It sounded perfect with no loud noise. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

tefal actifry family serie 011-1 Showing error ( Er ) and beeps after about 2 minute Turn off and on. Set 1 min time and same error happens again every time within the 1 minute. Any suggestions

joerba - Antwort

Might sound a bit hick but it worked. Underneath the paddle the two moving tabs that grip the spindle seemed a bit loose to me, so as a test I simply tightly folded a small piece of cardboard and jammed it in between the gap, between the 2 tabs and the spindle. Proved the point, it snapped on the chip pan as usual and actually turned. Now replace cardboard with foil, seems the tabs were to loose to grip the spindle, solved. You may need to redo now and again but saved a lot of hassle. Obviously clean paddle carefully, don't submerge in water or the foil may fall out.
