Introduction
Is your hairdryer not producing the right amount of heat needed as it used to? This guide will show you step-by-step how to carefully replace its switchboard from an old to a new.
Before you start, please be aware of the wiring elements and the heating system inside. ***Please turn the hairdryer off and unplug it prior to this repair.***
Use the proper tools for this, too, such as the [product|IF145-021|Philips #1 Screwdriver|new_window=true] to take parts of the hairdryer off - as seen in Steps 2, 5, and 6, not your fingers (unless you are wearing protective gloves). Be sure to have a [product|IF145-238|Soldering Workstation|new_window=true] at the ready to help you do this project correctly and safely as well. ([link|https://tameson.com/pages/soldering-station#:~:text=A%20soldering%20station%20is%20an%20electrical%20device%20used%20for%20soldering,areas%2C%20and%20an%20electrical%20transformer.|This] guide will show you how and why using this type of tool kit is important.)

***Things to Pay Close Attention To:***
For ***Step 2*** - Removing the grate will allow you to proceed to step 5 and 6, which lead to 7 where the inside of the hairdryer is visible. If you don't remove this part, you won't be able to open the hairdryer properly (seen in Step 6).
For ***Step 5 to 6*** - Use your Phillips #1 screwdriver as shown in the photos; however, be sure to utilize a [link|https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Non-Abrasive-Spudgers-Anti-Static-Tweezers/dp/B00PHNMEMC|plastic opening tool|new_window=true] (this kit is found on Amazon) of some kind at step 6 to reduce the risk of damaging the hairdryer cover. However, at step 9, proceed with using the [link|https://www.makeuseof.com/what-is-desoldering-wick-when-should-you-use-it/|desoldering wick|new_window=true] and [link|https://www.twi-global.com/technical-knowledge/faqs/what-is-soldering#:~:text=A%20soldering%20iron%20is%20a,workpieces%20needing%20to%20be%20joined.|a soldering iron|new_window=true] as found in the [link|https://www.ifixit.com/products/soldering-workstation|Soldering Kit|new_window=true]. This must be done with caution. The purpose behind this part is to make sure the turbo setting (as mentioned in Step 8) of the hairdryer is functional. If not, the wiring needs to be adjusted or replaced, too.
For ***Step 7*** - In the photo, you can see a ***''red''*** circle around where the ***TURBO*** button is and a ***''green''*** showing the ***SWITCHBOARD***. Along with that, you will see a circular device above a red wire (in the center of the hairdryer) and the turbo button - that is the internal fan that controls the heating system. In front of the fan is the motor and a heating element cover. Please be careful around these parts as you continue on.
