| If you own one of these laptops, you will know these things about it | | * It's ana powerhouse laptop for the money you spend on it(and ait's even better laptop if you get it refurbished) | * If you get one used or refurbished/scratch and dent and it comes with the 6 cell battery, you knowwill find out shortly after owning the laptop this battery is too weak for this laptop. You really need a 9 cell battery to get 4+ hours out of it, otherwiseany acceptable battery time or the runtime on batteryoff the charger time isn't all that great; about 3:15 once it's in the 9% wear range. This problem isbecomes even more evident if yours has the i7-4800MQ/Dual Video configuration and if you use the dedicated GPU, since this only makes the problem worse then it would be on the Intel graphics by cutting it by about a hour or sofrom 3:15 to 2:15. | | | In this guide, I will show you how to replace the battery, and find your Windows COA if you ever need it to reinstall Windows on this laptop computer if you have Windows 7 on this. You should also know Dell also sells a slice battery you can put into the E-Port on this notebook, but I am not covering installation of this. This only covers the main battery pack you need to run the laptop on battery. You may need to look around for the slice battery due to new TSA battery restrictions and Dell responding by burying the battery, but you will find it at some point as it was once advertised on the battery page for this laptop. if I find a link to the battery, I will post it in the guide. I think they buried it so people don't get as mad if the TSA confiscates these batteries for some ridiculous reason, even though the battery restriction only really affects '''spare batteries''' you travel with, but considering the TSA can get away with as much as they do, you never know if they will take it off the laptop and confiscate it. |
