[* black] Press the hard drive bracket down to free it from the rear case, then rotate the top of the drive toward yourself. Only try this if you would really like to risk breaking something. The safe method is to remove the two screws on top of the bracket.

[* icon_caution] Pressing the top of the hard drive bracket down to release it from the rear case requires a substantial amount of force, so we recommend laying your iMac stand-side down on a table to avoid knocking it over.
[* icon_note] If you have trouble releasingRemove the hard drive bracket, it can be removedbracket from the hard drive,drive by removing the two T8 or T10 Torxdomed Phillips-tip screws securingon top. Slide the bracket ~3/4" away from the PSU and lift out. Now lift the drive partially away from the case, giving enough room to grasp and remove the drivecable connectors. Examine the underside of the bracket to see how it will need to be re-installed.
