Schiebe das iPod-Öffnungswerkzeug aus Kunststoff an der Kante zwischen die weiße Kunststoffvorderseite und die Metallrückseite des iPods. Führe ihn einmal um den iPod herum, sodass alle fünf Häkchen, die den iPod zusammen halten, gelöst sind.
The angle is important. I tried forever to get it started more like the photo, straight in between. No luck, seemed impossible. When I put the iPod down on a padded surface, held the top/white half with one hand, I was able to push "down" into the metal with the opening tool with relative ease. Popped right off without any great force. Then I was able to more closing match the remaining photos, circling around the other tabs holding it as pictured.

Unlike newer models, there are no active components on the metal rear panel so no ribbon cables running between the two halves.

Hebe den Akku von der Festplatte ab und lege ihn neben den iPod (sie ist immer noch mit dem iPod Logic Board verbunden).

Hebe das Ende der Festplatte, welches nahe dem Firewire Anschluss liegt, an, um einfachen Zugang zum Akkustecker zu erhalten.

Nice easy fix. Modern batteries are twice the capacity too. These old gen iPods are great. Nice to have an apple product not made in China.
For my 2nd Generation iPod A1019 I found the batteries linked to at the beginning of this tutorial to be too thick to close the iPod without considerable force that actually seemed to bend and distort the display. Side by side they are nearly twice the thickness of the original battery. I bought both the 2200 mAh version, then also the 1600 mAh version hoping it would be thinner. All these batteries are manufactured by Cameron Sino. I am hoping to be able to find the actual Sony item and my search continues.
