Trek 4300 Bicycle Rim Replacement

This guide demonstrates how to remove and replace the rim of your front wheel in case it has become bent and the tire will not spin smoothly.

The process for replacing the rim on the front and rear wheel are the same. This guide specifically shows removing the rim from the front wheel. To take off the rear wheel first reference the corresponding guide.

Schritt 1 Rim  ¶ 

To deflate the tire, remove the cap and attach the pump head to the valve. You should then hear air flowing out from the tire.

Push the valve upward through the hole in the rim.

Pull the tire away from the rim until you can insert your fingers under the tire coping to remove it from the inside of the rim. Slide your fingers (still under the tire coping) around the circumference of the tire until you completely remove the tire from the rim.
