microphone not working on video, dont know about calls

In the process of repairing a screen on an iphone 4, the microphone stopped working for videos. This phone is not connected to a service so I dont know if it will work making a phone call. The microphone does work on voice memo, though. Ive been dont some research but just cant place whats wrong with it, most are saying its an apple defect after getting a new phone, but this phone is far from new.

HELP!

There is most likely a problem with the microphone hardware. However if it does work with voice memos try a complete restore of the device through itunes. If that doesn't work try having a look at the phone by yourself or by a repairer.

I'm trying to repair it myself im thinking it may be from oil from my fingers that caused interference between the connections. Ill try the restore if it still doesnt work
