Bought a replacement LCD, but #1 connector won't stay put.

I bought and installed a new LCD for my iPhone 3G 16GB. Replacing the old LCD went fine. But after trying to reinstall the screen assembly, connector #1 (from the new LCD) pops off at the slightest movement, so I couldn't place the assembly back and screw it shut.

I don't know whether it's the connector on the logic board or from the LCD that's dodgy.

I turned on my device to check whether the LCD worked. I had to keep the connector connected by pushing on it. The LCD works, but only correctly with a precise combination of pressure on the connector and angle in which the LCD is held.

Also the black tape around the screen assembly is coming off, is that a real problem?

are you sure you have te right part, compare it to the old one. maybe you have a 3gs screen.

It said 3G on the packing, alas, I can't really compare, as I already threw out the old screen. I now know that it was very stupid of me to do so. Is there a difference in connector #1 between a 3G and a 3GS? As I said the screen sometimes works correctly, when I hold the connector in place and tilt the screen.

But off course I can't hold the connector all the way down and even when I tried putting something on the connector, so it's held in place by the screen assembly, the colours change right before the screen is put in its place. (Black becomes white, other colours are less bright than they should be or altogether wrong.)

YES!

This is why sometimes it works correctly!

You must replace the part with the correct one

I bought a new screen and indeed, this one fits like a glove! The other must have been a 3GS screen. I also got my money back for that one. Yay!
