I want to swap out the factory slot load Sony Optiarc AD-5680H DVD Player/Writer in an iMac with a Sony Optiarc BD-5850H bluray writer/player?
It has exactly the same dimensions and SATA connections as its in the same family as the original so is there any reason why it wouldnt work?
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

My only concern would be drivers/software. Physical dimensions are one thing, getting it working is something completely different. If you have a software solution in place, then have at it. It should fit without any issues.
