Jodie, it sounds like you camera thinks it is plugged in. Have you tried to attach it to a computer and see if it connects properly? Any bend broken or corroded pins?

von

Thanks, but i have looked and can't see any bent or broken pins on the camera or usb cable so i don't think it is that! The camera recognises when it is plugged in and the screen changes to mass usb storage instead of access and goes back to access when i unplug it! I don't know if this means anything but there is a small light above the screen which usually flashes green but is flashing orange at the minute?? I really don't wana write the camera off without trying everything so any idea's would be greatly appreciated :)

the flashing light is your "Access LCD" Check the fuses on the board SY143, that is the board where the memory stick connector is soldered to. There are two fuses of them. Also, check connector CN702. That is the one where the multi-connector attaches to. If nothing else I would probably start with MC-181 FLEXIBLE BOARD

Hi Jodie.

Basically, "Access" appears on a digital camera screen when the camera is connected to another device (computer) and when the devise is accessing the pictures/video on your camera. It may also mean that the camera is trying to get access to the memory card and for any reason it fail.

I think it may be a memory card issue.

You should start by:

  1. Disconnect any device from your camera
  2. Removing the memory card.
  3. Removing the battery for a minute.
  4. Put the battery again and try to turn on your camera for a few minutes with another memory card or with no memory card if you doesn't have a second one (I see you have an internal memory so that your should be able to take a few pictures with no memory card)

By the way you should try to put your memory card in a computer to backup your last pictures. If you are able to do that you can format your memory card by the same occasion.

Let us know if it change anything.

It's a lens problem. not coming out fully, by even just a few mm. Try gently pulling on the lens to pull it out fully. You may not even feel it move.

Alternately, try tapping the camera a few times on a hard surface.
