Compact device for setting up a home wireless network

Can I use my Airport express to bridge WiFi?

I have a question today that seems simple, but I have yet to come across a good answer for it. I have a pc rack mount server that I wanted to put in another closet away from my xserves, but I do not have an ethernet connection in that closet, and the server does not have WiFi. I do have an AirPort express lying around and was wondering if I could somehow use that like a wireless adapter with it's ethernet connection. It is the original AirPort express, not the newest one. I am not in need of a super fast connection that ethernet would bring, but just need to get it wireless. I would buy an actual adapter, but I want to see if I can manage with what I have.

Thanks

Just to clarify, I am not extending the network, I simple want my network to go router --> wireless --> received by airport --> connection brought to server by ethernet from airport express.

YES, you can. I've used an Airport Express as a wireless adapter for my Xbox 360 for 5+ years now. Mine is set up in bridged mode, where it joins the wireless network provided by my Time Capsule and both extends the wireless signal as well as routing the network to it's ethernet port, which is connected to my Xbox.

It looks like this is also addressed/explained in the third question on this Apple support page
