Will not boot from HD
After the spinning soccer ball (did not unfreeze), I pressed the power button to restart and got the flashing folder with?mark. After several reboot attempts including option command PR to zap PRAM, and attempts to do the hardware test (unsuccessful), I booted using a Mountain Lion Install CD. Profile showed "there was an error scanning for Serial-ATA devices". Disk repair found only the optical CD drive. Even tried to restore from my Time Capsule, no luck as it hung up looking for the missing HD. Does this mean my HD is dead? Any hints on how to resurrect this before I buy a replacement HD?
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

Went to Apple Genius Bar to confirm HD is dead, and it is. Bought a Seagate 1 TB 7200 rpm drive with 64 mb cache from Frys for $89.99 and installed myself with help from guide on this site. Got 2 large suction cups (used for tile setting) and the #6 & #8 Torx from Home Depot and did it in less than 2 hours. Much thanks to I Fixit and flogo2003 for their help. I split the drive into 2 partitions. Decided to not spend the more bucks as flogo2033 suggested on SSD or a hybrid drive.
