screw into the dvi port

A helpful tool needed is an X-ACTO hobby knife. The blade is small enough to fit into the DVI port hole. Once in the port hole us a bit of pressure on the knife against the improperly placed screw. Now use your screw driver and see if you can reverse the screw out. A powerful magi net could be helpful also to help pulling the crew out. If none of this works, then you will have to disassemble the whole top palm rest and keyboard assembly. Using the ifixit guide follow the steps to remove the LCD Data cable noting steps 14 through 17. You should be able to push the screw out this way Be careful you do not cut the Data cable with the hobby knife! I have done this myself a couple of times and it is very exasperating. Just be sure the next time to look very closely at the holes to make sure you are putting the screw back into the right one.

I happen to have a PowerBook logic board that I just looked at. The two holes on either side of the port can be screwed out. These are just screwed into the DVI port on both sides. They are a male and female attachment point for the DVI port. it is nothing more than a deep nut that fits over a screw. one end is ope and the other side is closed that screws into the DVI frame.You may be able to unscrew the affected one from the DVI connection thing with a very small needle nose plier or even Jam a large screw into the thing tight enough to reverse the holder out. It has no real purpouse other than to help hold a DVI cable to the port. Actually I would not worry about it, the screw may eventually fall out, it cannot go all the way through and into the computer.
