Whenever I move the top screen while playing, the image on the top screen runs, But i can manage to play if the screen is set at its normal open position. any movement on the unit causes the colors to begin running. I would like to know the cause of this; and if possible if the problem is fixable. I'd like to make my DS in as good condition as possible so I can give it to a family member.

Use this guide Nintendo DS Lite oberes LCD Austausch and check to make sure the ribbon cable is properly seated. It does look like a bad LCD, but is definitely interesting. If the cable is properly seated and you have no damage to the connector, I'd replace the LCD.

Thanks! I'll give it a go, Hoping I just have to reseat the cables and not get a new LCD.

Sounds like a bad cable. any chance you can post an image of the "running colors"?

Righto, so I went and took some pictures of it. Apologies for the darkness but it was the only way to make the screen not look blue.
