So after I dropped the phone, now, only the upper left of the screen is responding to touch (around 10% of the phone surface). All I need to replace is the digitizer, right?

if the lcd (what gives the image) still displays fine without discoloration, then yes, only the digitizer needs to be replaced

I just replaced the touchscreen assembly on this phone a couple of days ago. Don't waste your time trying separate the digitizer from the LCD. Just buy the whole touchscreen assembly and replace it. Cost about $80 on eBay. Pretty easy if you're used to changing out screens.
