Lots of devices, different problems (Lock Button, Volume WiFi)

Hi all,

I've been stalking this forum, and thought I should ask my own question here since every case is different. I have multiple phones with various kinds of problems. We're considering sending it into a store to have fixed, but thought I'd give a stab at it. If someone can kindly direct me to which parts are needed and maybe a few guides on how to fix these specific problems and help find the most affordable solutions to them, that would be great!

1) A few devices with the home/lock button jammed in. As far as I know, this guide - iPhone 4S Power Button ersetzen should do it as well as the $5 piece.

2) WiFi is greyed out - I don't think there is a permanent fix for this? I've read about hair dryers, freezers etc. Is this a lost cause?

3) Battery not holding a charge - simply battery replacement?

4) LCD Glass cracked. Can I just buy the replacement LCD or do I have to buy the whole assembly kit with the digitizer etc?

5) By replacing the back cover, does it have the Apple logo as well as at the bottom saying "iPhone"

"Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China Model ##### etc"? or is it something that's just white/black?

6) Home button is not responsive. Can I just buy the home button or do I have to actually buy Rubber gasket and ribbon cable? Is there a way to identify what the problem is without opening it up?

7) Wifi is going in and out. Can't really connect to a network because it turns on and off non stop.

8) Loud speaker is not working.

9) SIM Card does not read (Not Found)

I know that this is a lot of questions, and I can't seem to get a solid answer from searching alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.

You can try changing the Wifi Antenna and restoring the phone:

3) Battery not holding a charge - simply battery replacement?

Yes.

4) LCD Glass cracked. Can I just buy the replacement LCD or do I have to buy the whole assembly kit with the digitizer etc?

You have to buy the kit, as LCD and digitizer are glued together.

5) By replacing the back cover, does it have the Apple logo as well as at the bottom saying "iPhone"

Yes, but they cannot show the logo while selling on Ebay.

"Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China Model ##### etc"? or is it something that's just white/black?

Yes Designed by Apple.. But still not original.

6) Home button is not responsive. Can I just buy the home button or do I have to actually buy Rubber gasket and ribbon cable? Is there a way to identify what the problem is without opening it up?

If you feel/hear the click sound when pushing, then flex cable as to be changed, if not can still be the button with the flex and not just the black plastic part

7) Wifi is going in and out. Can't really connect to a network because it turns on and off non stop.

Try restoring phone, and try with another wifi, can be multiple things.

You have to see if it's issue with the wifi you use (then not the phone) or the phone itself. If phone, check if software or hardware.

8) Loud speaker is not working.

Replace it.

9) SIM Card does not read (Not Found)

Try restoring phone, try with another SIM card, can be problematic if it's hardware.

Thank you so much!!!!!!! I appreciate you taking your precious time to answer my question! I watched a YouTube video on how to do the lock button and it seems crazy. I'm worried about not being able to put it back together. Any tips on a good way to manage the steps in reverse order besides just working backwards?

How I keep track I use the iFixit magnetic mat but you could simply use a piece of paper and as you disassemble it, just write down where the screws or pieces go eg "logic board middle" showing that it's the screw that goes in the middle of the logic board. As you reassemble just work your way back so you know what piece goes where.

I've done a lock button before and it does look complicated but as you're doing it it's actually quite simple, just take your time and be careful and you'll be fine.
