The screen has pixel all over in different colors. it does not show sharp images. how does the video card repair and how can it be removed to see if by removing and replacing it would help repair.

I have the MacBook Pro 17' It has 217.4 MB on the desktop it's about 3/4 years old do you need the model number etc to tell you more? The Video card was exposed to extreme Texas heat in a car for 10 minutes which never recovered. I took it to MicroTech and was told the vid card was fried and the opti drive also needed replacement. I a not in a financial position to buy a new internal so I think I'll get an internal when possible but I really would like to have the vid card fixed if there is any way you can help with that or point me in the right direction.

PS the external shell has been thrashed a bit and are there any shells available for replacement later on down the line?
My computer is an A1175 MacBookPro 15". my video was fried when left in the hot summer car in Texas for 10 minutes. I haven't been able to try it on an external display tell me the best way to do this. I did take it to MicroTech who did say that there was nothing to do but replace it. I also need replace the opti drive.
thank you for any help oh and I would love to replace the external shell as this one has gotten pretty trashed and bent up due to a bad battery bulging and a fall. thanks again!!!

At start-up display contains regular (i.e. 'tiled') artifacts normally associated with screen connection or video card/chip failure or problem. Condition persists to desktop. Same effect using good external display. Could this possibly be bad RAM instead of failed video subsection?
