No screen, No keyboard, No trackpad

I was given a macbook pro 13" early 2011 that was dropped down cement stairs. when turning on I heard the Hard drive clicking, No screen but the screen is not cracked or scratched. So I hooked it to an external monitor, the ? mark blinked and I installed a new hard drive. I down loaded mountain lion and she is alive. The following is not working. Keyboard is not working, I am using a blue tooth keyboard, trackpad is not functioning, I plugged in a mouse. Sound and internet is working just fine. I checked the ram took them out and reinstalled and it is registering 4 gb as before only 2 gb. Battery seems to be dead so to use the mac I have to keep it plugged in. I check all the wires and cables and they all look plugged in and nothing amiss. I did disconnect the screen plug and plugged it back in and when starting up the screen lights up then goes off. Could the battery be the reason for screen not working? Is it the logic board that is damaged and if so where do I send it for testing. I do appreciate your help.

Can you tell us were you see the dents and scratches on the case. That might help in ID'ing what is damaged underneath.

Dan, There is one dent on the right side of the edge of top case just below the up/down arrow keys of the keyboard. the screen and screen cover is not dented at all, and the cover is still tight when opening and closing. On the left side of the mac it seems to be bent (creased) like by the head phone jack the screen cover can not close properly and has a 1/2" opening. The screen cover cannot shut tightly to the bottom because of the bend in the lover case. there is a dent directly on top of the ethernet slot also. The optical drive entrance was dented closed slightly so I used a common screw driver and gently opened it up again. I am sure that is not working correctly I put a cd in and it spit is out. I am not concerned about the optical drive at this time. I would like to have the screen working, and the keyboard and track pad repaired. The bottom of the case cover is just scratched and there is a bend on the left where the case is bent. I can send photos if asked.

From your description the top case ribbon cable connections to the logic board or the top case it's self it damaged. Review this IFIXIT guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Logic Board Replacement look at Step11.

Update

When you have a twisted case and dents you can create a warping effect onto the logic board causing components to pop off as well as snap the fine trace connections.

I would start off stripping the system down so you can reform the case back into the correct shape as best as you can. Once you've got it back into shape repopulate the case and make sure to inspect for any loose solder joints on the stressed components with a magnifier (making note where the logic board was bent when you took it apart).

You could also have a short as the metal case is now touching the logic board were it shouldn't.

If the case is to badly damaged see if you can find a junker (water damaged) unit of the same series so you can use the case parts from it.

Dan I did remove and reset the ribbon cable of the as in Step 11 of the logic board replacement. This is when I got the screening to start up and then shut right down again.

Since I am a novice and have been only changing hard drives and batteries and ram, I will have to get my confidence up to do a job like this. I watched plenty of videos on how to's. And since this is a mac that was given to me I just may tinker at it and if anything this will be a great learning experience. It is up my alley just to get this poor abused mac back to full working capacity. One more question Dan, where do I start? Do I purchase a upper case first? and how will I know if the keyboard is working before I disassemble and reassemble? Thanks for your professional help. Lynn

Don't have any magical words of wisdom to offer you here. You could get a new uppercase Vs used one just so you know the keyboard is working on it, but that will cost you a premium. Are you willing to take the risk thats all that needs replacing here?
