Should I replace my display glass?
Also, this was incredibly stupid of me, but when trying to bend the display assembly back, I apparently had a corner of the glass grabbed and a cracked it in a 1/2" by 1/2" square. This is in the absolute bottom left corner and is so small that I doubt it will ever be more than a cosmetic issue. Will this void my warranty? I'm wondering because if it will I'd like to replace the glass myself because I've still got two years left with AppleCare.
Well, the biggest concern I have is that there are some internal issues with the computer that were happening before the crack in the bottom left corner. There was flickering on the screen when it awoke from sleep that has been getting worse as time wears on.
From reading a tutorial on how to disassemble the display itself to remove the glass, it seems that it isn't super difficult. The tutorial can be found here. It's 60$ for the glass itself. I understand I could damage the LCD if I'm not careful, but I believe I'd be able to do it without any issue.
Here are two images showing the crack.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?
