iPhone 4 doesnt power / turn on after screen repair

Hi was wondering if anyone could share any information with me about the following.

I have tried to repair a friends iphone 4 as they dropped it and smashed the screen. I have repaired my own phone a few times and others also other repairs like the home on/off button, ear spearker etc. Although this time round i stripped down and put the phone back together as normal with the new screen on it but the phone does not power on. The phone was working fine when the screen was cracked so im guessing it must have something to do with the way i put it back together. I have tried putting a new battery in it and also the hard reset (holing the power and home button together for a while) and nothing has worked. Ive also tried connecting the phone to my laptop but it is not showing up on itunes.

Very stuck on ideas what to do next to try and fix the problem. Dont want to take it to a phone shop as i know they can be funny about working on iphones that have already been opened but i would if the repair is more complex than iam capable of, but knowing the problems before hand will be good to know and could save me from getting ripped off by a phone shop

It might not be recognised by the computer cause the dock might be broken..

You can test the old screen if it was working before see if the screen works .

as the new screen might be faulty

Carefully reconnect charging port flex cable to the logic board. This is all you need to get life out of logic board. Also check the four battery connector pins which are soldered to the logic board, to be certain they are not damaged or lifted.

If you plug this phone into direct power not into your computer, Let it sit for a min, and try to use your Vibe switch does the phone Vibrate? Just by your discription I would be guessing that the phone is turning on but the LCD\Digi itself is faulty. It happens a lot. I would disconnect the 2 LCD Ribbon cables. Battery and all. Leave the small metal pieces off. Keep the board and all the other wires plugged in plug in your phone to a computer with ITUNES started on it and see if it detects the phone. If it does? the Screen you have purchased is bad and you will have to get a replacement. Let say it doesn't? I would be guessing you scratched a component, hit a board chip. Something that controls the Trigger for the phone to turn on. From your description of the problem that is the best I could say.
