Spilled OJ into my keyboard, how should I clean the inside components?

I'm currently living in Japan and I spilled orange juice into my MacBook keyboard. The computer still functions normally but seemed to experience a short and turn off when the spill occurred. After a long run-around with apple store here, I've discovered that they can't actually do anything for me other than replace parts at high cost. I'll be traveling to Ginza tomorrow morning to pick up my laptop and I was wondering what I should do. Is it better to just not fuss with it and hope it continues to work? Or should I buy tools and cleaners and open it up in my tiny little apartment to clean it? I think a lot of OJ got in, but it may have been the adrenaline at the time that made me think that. :)

What kind of tools do I need for a full tear down and clean? What kind of cleaners should I buy? Bear in mind, I don't know exactly how I will find all this stuff in Japan, but my Japanese is so-so. Can I use something like iso-whatever alcohol you buy at a drug store to clean the motherboard? Oh, and which of the iFixit guides should I follow if I want to get at the places the spill most likely got to? I'm guessing I'll have to do more than just remove the bottom shell. I also need to clean the sticky keyboard, but that I'm less worried about.

Thanks for any help you can give! I'm so worried! Only a week ago I would have thought it sacrilege to have an open container near a MacBook Pro, but sometimes accidents just happen...

Remove power and battery if possible. OJ is ACIDIC so just drying it will not stop possible damage. You need to disassemble and clean ASAP. Use distilled water, cotton tips, paper towel etc to remove the OJ then dry the parts in a warm place for at least 6 - 8 hours. I usually just put the oven on at 50C and sit my wet board on a towel and let it bake a while. A warm sunny window ledge will suffice

The key is to REMOVE The OJ ASAP. Don't be scared of using distilled water. Just make sure you remove any excess and then dry the system thoroughly before re assembly

I've seen this on multiple occasions and this is what I tell people.

1. Shut off your equipment ASAP. The worst possible thing that could happen is that an electronic component will get shorted out. Unplug everything, remove batteries.

2. Orange juice will leave a sticky residue and that must be removed. Disassemble what you can and clean off the components with water. Let it dry thoroughly. There's really no need to put it in an oven. Just be patient.

This did happen to me recently and this approach worked.
