Why is my Asus Transformer T100 not turning on?

After charging the device for many hours, it will not power on. When plugging in the power adapter, the device does not register a charge. I try to power on the device, and nothing happens.

The white light is on when I have it plugged in but doesn't do anything. I have tried holding the button down for 2 seconds, 10 seconds etc. When I unplug it, the power white light button goes off. Anyone know how to fix this/reset it?

von

i turn on my laptop and show the green power light is on but it doesn't turn on

von

I'm having the same problem again. I posted this in July. It is now November, 3 months later, and the same thing is happening. This is an issue.

von

Same just had mine for a day and it won't turn on

von

Just got my laptop today for Christmas....I charged it and then used it for a couple minutes just loading some pics and basic setup stuff then left it sitting a few minutes and when I came back the screen was off and wouldn't come back on so I shut it it down and now it won't come on at all and the charging light doesn't come on when I plug it in....there is no way to "pull the battery" to reset as I have seen suggested so.....what to do?!?!

There are three possibilities for why the device will not turn on:

*Bad power adapter

*Bad battery

*Bad screen

For more information on how to resolve these three situations, follow this link: Asus Transformer T100 Troubleshooting Page

My laptop will charge with the red light, but when I try to turn kt on, the white (fully charged) light blinks three times. This even happens when I charge the laptop for a long time. Its been doing this for about 3-4 days now. The day before those days, I slept after I put it on the charger and that morning, it wouldn't go on. I'm charging it now but I've tried nearly everything: control-alt-delete, the power and home button for 15 seconds, I'm all out of options other than to take it to BestBuy or mail it to the technicians to get it looked at.

von

Held down the power button and the windows button for 15 seconds and thw computer came on. This is an annoying nuisance! Is this problem solved with Windows 10?

von

Holding down the power button and Windows button (while plugged in with white LED on) worked! Thank you so much for this advice. By the way, I had upgraded to Windows 10 and it was applying an update. I think my computer had gone to sleep mid-update. (This never happened to me before when I had Windows 8.1.)

von

I up grated to windows 10 and it did not resolve the issue of not turning on

von

When my machine is plugged in to charge, it has an orange light and when I push and hold the power button it flashes white four time. Anyone have experience with this? The reset process that you talk about above is not working.

If you are sure it has been charged, but now the charge light will not come on when plugged in, and the tablet will not power on, hold down the Home/Windows Button (On the left side under the Volume Button) and the Power Button for 15 Seconds. This will force the unit to reboot. Once it boots, Google "Laptop Battery Monitoring Tool" and use the tool to check the life of the battery. Some of them you can also plug the charger in, and it will tell you the charge rate, then you will know if the Charger/USB cable is bad.

Two of the better ones are :

Battery Eater Monitoring Tool - Download (I use this one mostly, it has more information)

and

BatEXPERT Monitoring Tool - Download

I had the same problem after having my tablet for 4 months. I called ASUS and they had me unplug my tablet, hold the power button down for one minute, plug the charger back in, and try turning on the tablet. It worked for me!

They told me that my tablet was in sleep mode for too long which caused it to think it needed to charge even though it was fully charged.

Hope this helps!

Wow, that was a long list to get to this answer, BUT IT WORKED, THANKS

von

omg tried everything and it was this simple, my daughter had not even used it yet.

von

i love you i love you

von

This helped so much. Thank you! I tried everything else and did not want to start pulling my tablet appart. Thank you!

von

Perfect, and a good explanation of WHY it happened. I suspect that the solution above does the same thing but with a ton of extra work and the danger of damaging your tablet. @fokozuynen in the above answer - apparently they DID make a proper reset "buton".

ATTENTION ALL THOSE WHO HAVEN'T FOUND A FIX: If you followed all the different instructions here, but nothing worked, try the following.

Warning: You have to take the back off of the tablet...

I did this by carefully inserting a small swiss army knife into the top part of where the backing snaps onto the screen, and then took a guitar pick in place of the knife, and slowly went around the whole thing gently leveraging the backing until all the snap points are loose. If you get all the sides except the bottom, which seemed to be the most fragile, you should be able to take the backing off and the bottom will unhook by itself.

After the backing is off, you must unplug the battery from the motherboard. It's a black, connector with 6 short wires running at the top of the battery. I used the same small swiss army knife to GENTLY lift the plastic on top of the connector so the locking, inserted portion of the connector wiggles free. Use your fingernail to pull one side of the connector, and then the other until it is disconnected.

Leave it disconnected for a few minutes. At this point, I plugged the USB plug into it while the battery was disconnected for about 2 seconds, but I DOUBT this had anything to do with the fix, as I heard it make very high pitched wine like it was overloading a transformer or transistor. Only try it if disconnecting the batter alone doesn't help.

At this point, reconnect the battery, and press the power button for about two seconds. My T100 powered right up. If it powers up, carefully pop the backing in place and hope to god that it doesn't do it again... :D if not, you're SOL.

FYI: my symptoms were that it would flash white when trying to power on the normal way, and then nothing would happen, and when plugged in, the LED by the power button would be solid white. When trying to power on while on the charger, it would do the same flashing white LED by the power button, and nothing would happen. None of the button pressing combinations did anything. The screen never turned on or flickered, and the LED by the camera did NOT illuminate when I would try to turn it on.

Hope this helps someone...

Here's a good one for ya:

I managed to open the thing up (using only the guitar pick rather than the swiss army knife), but I never got to taking out the battery (Couldn't remove the plastic from the connector without risking to damage it). Somehow, opening it up did resolve the issue and allow me to boot the device up again...

Had the same symptoms described here before.

von

yeep worked for mee too......i wounder why those retards of engineers from >Asus have not made a proper reset buton.

von

This worked like a charm. Thank you!!!

von

$@$* worked!!! thanks man...i was wondering what am going to do with the whole work i had done n was to submit today...i guess this is the same rationale applied to laptop when they fail to boot....on the downside...i cracked my screen

I had the same problem with my son's device. I found there is a setting that requires the power button to be pressed twice and held for 2 seconds. I didn't change the setting to that. It came that way. You can change it under settings. Anyway, try pressing the power button twice and on the second press hold for 2 seconds. It took me 3 tries to do it just right, but it finally worked and I immediately went into settings and changed it. Good luck.

This actually worked, i fixed it for a friend so i didnt have hes password to change the setting. Since im a bit of a geek, what is the setting? is it the power on setting?

von

The holding for two seconds after pressing power button actually worked. Thank you sooo much

von

This worked for us too. I forgot this is a Droid system and the booting works like my phone. I have to fiddle around with the power button on that too.

von

Thanks so so much for this! I was trying to switch my device on for the very first time and I don't think I would have ever managed it without this advice! I Guess the setting kinda makes sense to avoid it powering up accidentally, but you'd think they'd mention it somewhere in the manual! Thanks a mil :)

Where is this settings Melove?

I tried each of there tips, to no avail. I was preparing to order a new motherboard and replace myself, but thought to try using friction/motion before purchasing. I pushed the power button rapidly, repeatedly 100 times and to my luck it powered on perfectly; and continues to do so. Give it a try and best of luck!

This was the last thing I tried (didn't unplug the battery, though)... And it actually worked! Thank you so much, Kristin!

von

Wow. I have tried every option on this thread except for trying to remove the battery. I was ready to give up. As a last resort, I tried rapidly pressing the power button. I think I pressed the button more than 100 times, but I kept pressing rapidly until it finally came on. What a weird glitch in this tablet.

von

Haha! Pressing rapidly did it!!!! About 30 clicks and on we came. Thanks all, especially Kristen

von

100 clicks and it's back!! Thank you!!!

von

Yesssss i love you it worked

I've had this problem several times, most recently just today. Through error and trial I've learnt the device switches back on if I push the power button down for 20+ seconds. You may feel like you've already tried to push it down for a long time and have lost all hope, but after a little forever mine switches on perfectly fine.

Hey guys I hope you can help me. Just now I'm using my notebook tp500l watching and surfing on net and then it became blackout, I plug my charger nothing happened., I waited for an hour but still nothing happened, I tried everything mentioned on top but still no response on my laptop..

von

Is the white light on when plugged in? Do you know how much battery life was remaining before it blacked out?

von

This worked for me after trying most of the other advice here. As soon as the Asus screen comes up, it says "In search of incredible." I suggest they keep on searching! lol

von

Thank you it worked for me. I kept clicking for about 20 times.

von

Hi,

Mine will turn on when I press the power button for about 40 secs, but it goes off again once I release the power button.

Any help please?

Hi guys.

I have two (well I sold one) of these and I joined this forum just to tell everyone that the ORIGINAL USB cable does NOT charge the device properly.

As soon as I connected another USB charge cable (an old Nokia cable), with ORIGINAL adapter, it charged properly!

The orange light comes on with the ORIGINAL cable, but it doesn't really charge: When turned on, the charge light comes on, but Windows doesn't recognise it as charging for long. With a "better" cable (and ORIGINAL adapter) Windows shows it charging until charged.

I hope this helps.

Hey guys,

I had a similar problem and got it fixed combining the tips above.

What happened was last night I sent my laptop to sleep and charged it. This morning the screen wouldn't come on. The battery was probably charged because the power indicator light was white, but whenever I pressed the power button for two seconds, it flashed white 6 times. Nothing happened after that.

I couldn't force it to reboot either by pressing the power and home buttons.

So I did the down and power button twice and then home plus power button. Finally something showed up on my screen, it said the battery is 85% charged and the the screen went away just like when it was off. So I pressed the power button for two seconds and it finally woke up!

Greetings Everyone

I have this problem several times. I know it will sound weird, but I fixed the problem using my Motorola Moto G charger on the device, for an hour. I do not know if maybe this is about slow charge, but it works for me every time I got a dead state, and the led flashing 5-6 times with the original charger.

You can try it.

I had this problem while doing a factory reset. The machine was working fine, i did a factory reset, and the machine shut down. When it started to reboot, the machine showed 'red light, no batter screen'

I disconnected the keyboard and everything worked fine. the reinstall picked up right where it left off. I am not sure if I will be able to use this machine with the keyboard, but at least that got me past the roadblock.

If the other does not work simply remove the10 screws that hold the back plate and with a thin flat blade. Remove the back cover. Then disconnect the multi wire harness leading from the battery. Wait a minute then reconnect. This reset worked for me. When it turned on it asked for an update and I did it to lessen the chance of it glitching again.

I have had this problem three or four times with mine. The key seems to be to unattach the keyboard part, do the reset (windows plus power buttons for 30 seconds) and charge fully without the keyboard attached.

It seems as though the keyboard retains some power even when you do the reset with the buttons, and the tablet is stuck in a loop where everytime it tries to turn on it keeps turning off, so you need to get rid of any power.

I've had the problem and I solved it! (Asus TP500L)

Just push ton "on" button for like 30-40sec. As long as you can. If it doesn't work, try pushing the volume or windows button at the same time.

If it still don't work, just press alternatively. For a long time.

So mine boot up after pressing the "on" + windows button for like 30 sec.

However, now I can't really use easily the on button. It takes 30sec everytime. :/ Do someone actually have experienced the same problem after succeeding at booting up back the pc?

In my case this is something about Sleep function and Power

First case, somehow it thinks it cannot wake up because of there is no power (but in fact Power is available). So solution is restart using Power down for 15 seconds, or combination Power and Windows button.

Or else really no power below 5 percent so it cannot wake up. Solution, disconnect tablet from keyboard. charge up, and power on 2 seconds as normal.

Perhaps it happens when I forgot to close the lid for a long time, and auto Sleep is working. Imagine that if you must set the presentation on a meeting, you prepare computer and put it on table, waiting your turn, and suddenly it goes off because of Auto Sleep and not wake up when it is your time.

Can we look for Power setting within Windows, and change the automatic Sleep option? Maybe longer time eq 30 minutes to prevent it happens again?

Hi everyone, hope I'm still in time for me to be helpful. I solved my problem by upgrading my BIOS from the page (https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/...). Be careful on which version you have.

FINAL SOLUTION

I tried most of the solutions provided but none worked, then I remember I am an engineer, Phone Specialist precisely, Then I dismantled the system, and make sure the battery was charged, and then check the power switch to know if it's ok, then I found out the switch was not functioning then I replaced it and then problem solved.
