Repairing broken screen 5s vs 4s?

So I recently repaired a 4s broken screen (screen from ifixit), and now someone else asked me to repair their 5s broken screen. How different are they to repair? If it isnt much different from the 4s I will definitely do it, but I thought I would ask before I say I would will fix it.

Thanks!

It's different, but I wouldn't say that it is harder.

The two phones are quite different in their architecture. You already replaced the 4S display so you know that you need to disassemble nearly the whole phone. With the 5S its different here the display is the first thing to unmount. You only need to loose the parts screwed to the front panel like front camera, speaker and Homebutton. (ifixit ships the 5S panel with a new cam installed)

I think if you were comfortable with the 4S fix you should be able to fix the 5S, too. ;-)

Wow thanks for the quick replies its really appreciated! Last question, should I buy the $30 suction tool or can I get by with one of the small provided suction cups?

von

The small one works fine and in my opinion sufficient, but the suction tool should be more comfortable.

I find it easier but the flex cables for the screen are easily damaged.

To be honest I never use a suction cup cause if glass is cracked it won't lift it..

I use a small pry tool on the bottom left a pry it up

Sounds good. I did order the iSclack.......whether it works or not I guess I will find out. I have gotten enough requests from others to repair phones that I just purchased it anyway. Thanks!

The only thing I don't like about the Isclack is if your opening a iPhone say for a charging port replacement and the screen adhesive is lifting or lose on the inside the Isclack will rip the glass off the bezel. Resulting in the customer needing a new screen aswel..

Happened to me once and the Isclack went straight in the bin
