Jumping Rotary switch to power on NEC NP-M300X

I'm trying to fix a nec np-m300x projector for our youth that is out of warranty. It won't power up and the code it gives is that the lamp door needs to be shut even though it is properly shut. Upon tear down, it appears the switch (I assume a rotary switch) that the lamp door makes contact with on the circuit board is physically damaged. In speaking with a repair shop an hour away, I was advised to jump/bypass this switch as it is merely a fail safe to keep people from operating the projector with the lamp door open. How do I go about doing this?

Kevin, should be straight forward. Post a couple of images with your question so we can see what you see. This way we might be able to point things out a bit better. Use this guide Bilder zu einer vorhandenen Frage hinzufügen to help you with posting some images.

Kevin, see if this looks somewhat familiar. It is from an MP-300 and should be similar to what you have. If so you can definitely bypass the switch...

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond Oldturkey and thank you for your responses. That is the exact switch I am trying to bypass.

Since it is a push button switch it should work if you bridge the contacts in a vertical direction in the image (top to bottom).

Thank you. Should I bridge straight down from the top two solder points, making two parallel wires by soldering something like a piece of a paper clip? Also, should I first heat the solder points and remove the push button switch before I bridge?

von

Old Turkey, I just wanted to thank you again. I ended up just leaving the switch on and soldering a line straight down between the contacts. The projector is working great now!

von

Perfect, that is what I would have suggested. Great job!
