iPhone refuses to leave charing screen

I am editing my problem. I realized it was a little different than I had stated.

My iPhone will not charge up. Sometimes it stays on the screen that shows the empty battery and shows the lighting bolt when I connect it to the usb port. I have left it charging over night. I have tried the trick of holding both the power and home buttons down to reset it. This turns the phone off and back on to the same screen.

Today it is pretending to turn on most times when i plug it into the wall and shows the jail broken pineapple logo as if it is going to turn on and then goes black. Very anoying

Sometimes it also does something weirder. It does a very odd dark black on black pattern across the LCD that slowly fades. It is very similar to when my GameBoy Color (back in the day) didn't have enough battery charge to turn on all the way and would start to turn on and then do a weird effect on the screen as it turned off. I tear apart all of my cables (even the indestructible ones) so my charging cables sometimes don't work since they are frayed at the ends. I think this part may have something to do with the cable not getting a good connection. This effect and the turn-on-fake-off both occur on two separate cables.

I gave it a replacement rear covering and jailbroke it so i cant take it to apple.

I have tried several chargers, and they all have the same result.

I have blown into the charing port. I saw that tip on a forum.

I have disconnected and reconnected the ribbon that connects the speaker and port assembly to the motherboard. I also saw this tip on a forum.

iTunes does not recognize the phone.

I am trying to remember if I had the problem of iTunes not recognizing it before or after it wouldn't charge. I have been on pain medicine from getting my wisdom teeth pulled out this weekend and have been busy, so I do not remember most of the day that my phone started having problems. I want to think that at first my phone's problem was something other than it refusing to charge and turn on, but I am not sure what it would have been, so it more than likely was the original problem.

Thanks for any help!

PS I tried the deal about wiping off where the battery connects to the motherboard. It did nothing. I don't want to try buying a new battery yet. I just had to buy a new silence switch, both the mechanism and the actual switch, and a new touch digitizer. I do not want to accept that I have bad enough luck that my battery went out in the same month.

I recently had this problem with a friends 3G, Most likely a battery problem.

First off, your going to need to disassemble (guide on Ifixit)..

When you remove the battery look at the pins on the battery for dust or rust, and on the board itself, if there is some, clear it away and you most likely fixed the problem.

If not your going to need a replacement battery, found very cheap, try deal extreme they are like 5 bucks! : )
