Ouch!
The newer 'Thin Series' iMac's use a fused cover glass to the LCD. No one offers the cover glass alone for these displays only the complete assembly Apple P/N: 21.5" Display Assembly: 661-7513

In future, it might make sense to use a screen protector to give a little more impact resistance, much as you would on a smartphone/tablet/laptop. Radtech makes antiglare screen protectors in iMac sizes, which it sells under the ClearCal name for $25-40, depending on the size.

i am having the same issue.....now i hooked my iMac with dell S2340L...but dunno why the respond of my iMac dropped like !&&*...later i will try to connect the lcd wire back to the motherboard...maybe its the reason cos the fan just keep running when i on my iMac.....and i also ordered sands X300 SSD for an upgrade...still waiting for it....

You need to replace the display as the sensors on it are not kicking in causing the system to go into safe mode (fans at full speed and the CPU clocking lowered)

now my iMac back to alive (with ext monitor) !!!!!!!!!! hooray!!!!!!!

Just like driving, one can drive with a cracked tail light but one does not want to drive with a cracked engine block. I strongly recommend you get a new display unit installed.

A content gateway is a script you get from certain CPA networks that blocks a visitor from entering your web page unless they fill out a form.
