As one can see in the image above, when I click on the brightness or volume icons, they work perfectly but the image has disappeared. The same has happened to the safari arrows to switch from one page to another.
Has this happened to anyone? and what would be the solution?

Try booting into safe mode by holding SHIFT on boot, then shut down the computer and boot normally. Let us know if the icons appear after doing this.
