Can I replace the power button

The last 6 months the power button was becoming a problem. Sometimes it would turn on the iMac fine and other times it would have to be pushed a number of times, or held to start up. Was at the point where I didn't power down at all. A house guest unknowingly turn it off. Now I can't turn it back on. Have held the power button down for 3-10 sec hoping for magic, but nothing. Most data is backed up but don't want to trash a perfectly good computer due to a crummy switch.

Look on the bottom of the stand and tell us which iMac you have please.

open your imac up. trace back from your power switch to where it is on the motherboard. use tweezers to jump the contacts to switch on your power. this is the cheapest way to solve your problem. if your have some soldering skills you can solder a reset switch from a old pc.

I have the same problem!

IMac does not start with power Button! But it starts up "automatically" by connecting automatically programming scheduled through "System Preferences"!

So I wonder if this is a defect of the Power Button, or if it is a defect in the Power Supply ..
