How to avoid losing screen sensitivity after OCA glass replacement?

Hi,

I've started changing the iPhone 6 glass using different equipment (we remove and replace the polarizer too).

We are using OCA glue and an autoclave for this activity.

How can we avoid losing sensitivity on the touch screen?

The screen definitely loses sensitivity after the replacement.

Does your screen look like there is static? Or does the screen look perfect other than touch sensitivity?

von

it won't be hundred percent because sometimes it has horizontal lines across the screen and sometimes static

Have you tested using less glue?

EDIT: following Ged's comment, let me rephrase, and please note that I have no practical experience with refurbishing. I'm just familiar with the physics of it:

Have you tested with thinner sheets, or if there is no such thing, can you use LOCA and try varying amounts and test?

Or just do multiple tests while changing 1 variable at a time: the glue thickness or quality, curing time, etc.

It seems from the people doing it this side of the world, that better results are obtained with LOCA anyhow. Some opt for OCA because it seems more controllable and less messy, etc. but they're not very happy with the results.

It's actually the non original polarizer and the non use of the "conductive glue" one dot each side overlaping the polarizer and the OCA. Plus you can not remove the polarizer and install a new one without vacuum laminating it on the i6. The rooler will not do. If you don't have a vacuum laminator a plastic razor blade is your best bet but still will give you problems. Think about it? If the polarizer is not "laminated" "hard" to the LCD properly are you going to have poor touch? If you do not have a vacuum laminator then never remove the polarizer

If there is any gap between any layer there would be a bubble.

Can be that you dont add the anti-static silver conductive paste (the thin silver line at the top) it can cause issues.

If your screen looks like it has static use the paste http://stsparts.us/products/conductive-p...

How are you cleaning your polarizer glue? Make sure the lcd is completely clean before new polarizer application. Another common mistake is to damage the flex on top. Make sure to take polarizer off from top to bottom

I've started adding a product called "conductive paste", applied on the top edge of the screen. Issue solved!

I would say this is something to do with the OCA. I've bought polarizers before and they're never quite just right, some are way too light. I'd ask some suppliers if it would be possible to buy 1 sheet of what they use as a sample. @Rany, I don't think you have to remove the backlight when using OCA because of how controlled it is. I assume OP uses a machine to automatically slice the polarizer off and then a vacuum laminator to reapply it, either way there's still no need for any liquids to go near the backlight of the LCD.

I faced the same problem that you faced it's not about static issues but it's about lcd thickness and glass and OCA the real problem is before we remove glass it's working fine right! also after applying Polarizer it's fine ! also but the problem appear with the two following steps after Vacuum Laminating Machine and After Autoclave most of them after Autoclave for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus I did about 40 - 50 LCD's all same issue so there must be something wrong !!! I found the problem but don't know how to fix it the problem is again it's about the lcd and touch contains from layers vertical and horizontal not visible for human eye so after the pressure the edges of the lcd under the glass it curve so the touch will not be responsive for sure ! but you can still get touch sensitivity if you press hard on glass it will respond so please if any one got an idea how to fix share us please we paid large amount of money and of course we don't want to lose our friends and customers I used anti static pen same problem I used LOCA no problem !!! 100 % working so please we need a solution for OCA iPhone 6 and 6 Plus LCD's

thanks a lot

I agree with all that is said here. Exactly same issue. Not static issue and I find it onlywith iPhone 6, 6+. But when i don't damage the polarizer everything works perfect. Only happens when I have to change the polarizer. Still waiting for a solution on this. I don't thing it's the oca or the glass size since I use same material on the lcd that don't need oca replacement and they work fine. Might be some issue with the application of polarizer. Any help will be appreciated

The problem is with copy polarizer but unfortunately there's no way to test original polarizer... How did I get this answer? Well I removed old glass without removing original Polarizer and I removed in purpose the static paste also didn't use!!! I applied oca and glass and perfect working like as it was so as a conclusion with iPhone 6&6+ no copy only original will work perfectly but the very important question is how to test OCA & Polarizer if they are original or copy??? Before buying them or just testing them before applying them anyone knows how to test good polarizer????

Thanks

von

I agree it's non original polarizer. I found a listing for sale when surching for polarizes that said "these are aftermarket polarizers" we also have original "that have better touch response" for sale in another listing for a higher price. So they seem to know this is a problem.

von

Agree too. I had mentioned before that is was due to the static paste. But now after reading this I realized that I also ordered OEM polarizers and OCA sticker. My provider is very trustworthy when they claim parts are Original. So now I don't have issue with the touch.

von

Update I got original polarizers from China and they cost twice as much but now have no problem using the one dot method "conductive glue" it's funny every video on youtube excludes this "real world step" ? Why?

You can also buy front glass with frame, oca and polarizer, you don't need anymore laminating the oca and polarizer on the glass. you can work faster and there's no dust and hairs on the oca when you don't have a free dust room.

I have the same problem. Please check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVMsZH0D...

At the top of screen is oca for iphone 6 and bottom of the screen is oca for iPhone 5. Do you have any experience with defective oca glue ? Unfortunately I don't have another pack of oca for iphone 6 so I can't test it. Is the oca for iPhone 6 defective ?

Hi, I have a similar issue and I hope someone can enlighten me on this matter.

https://youtu.be/GuPwaGTbS3s

So basically my problem is that when I need to remove and replace the polarizer film on the iPhone 6 (mainly), the screen starts to get purple when and where you touch it... I use copy polarizer films, but I do add the silver conductive paste at the top (I also use OCA and 5 in 1 vauum laminator machine). The problem appears once every 5 to 10 screens maybe, but it is very annoying and no matter how many times I redo the acreen I can't seem to find a way to get rid of it. Any suggestions, is it poor quality polarizer film or something else? Thanks
