What to repair if CASIO Tf-t500 segment LCD doesnt turn on anymore?

So I have this Cash system from casio, sadly the segement LCD display became weaker and weaker untill it didn't light up at all. So now we can't see how much the check is, until it is printed. I know it's not a common contact pressure problem as 2 lcd are connected and both faded just as quickly. So I opened it up and and didn't see any leaking capacitors. Does this mean something else went bad? My most educated guess is the driving IC, but im no electronics engineer... Can someone help me to reduce the problem so I know what to repair?
