Water damaged. cleaned parts in 91% isopropyl, new battery. WHAT NEXT?
I went camping for my birthday weekend in July(shared w/ America). After camping on an island, we went white water rafting and I put my phone in a Water-Proof Otterbox Armor series case. Yup you guessed it, my phone got soaked!! Guess who can't afford a new one...
So I left the phone in rice overnight when I got home. Next day plugged it in and saw the low battery/ charging image display on the screen. I instantly disconnected it, and threw it back into the rice for another 2 days. Removed it, tested again and no signs of life.
So I bought some tools, read some iFixit, and got the courage to tackle the problem.
Opened it up, Inspected and cleaned all parts that showed signs of corrosion with 91% isopropyl. (pretty much only 1 out of 3 of the display cables.) Still no signs of life after drying, so I removed the logic board and soaked it overnight, got at it with a toothbrush, and it looks fine.
NOTE: I did not remove the shields as I don't want to do any permanent damage to my phone just yet without ruling out all other possibilities.
I then purchased a new battery from iFixit hoping it was the battery. Still no signs of life at all!!
I'm about to order a lightning connector.
Do you think this can be the fix? What should I try if this connector doesn't work?
Any feedback will be MUCH appreciated!! Especially since Otterbox refuses to provide any more than an "I'm so sorry"
Ist dies eine gute Frage?
