My screen flickers randomly, and reverts with mouse or touchscreen mov

I have strange screen flickering problem ( macbook pro 13" retina late 2013 Yosemite . Screen flickers while i am working and stops while moving mouse or touchpad ( not with key board movement) !

If I leave it for sometime as the screen saver pops up the flickering stops. Some times system shuts down and starts up showing 'sleep wake error'

Took the system to service centre they even reinstalled OS, opened the back and reconnected components after cleaning the contacts and I still have the problem. The frequency of occurrence was less initially but now its very high.

I took it for service again and they are saying that i have to change display.

But don't understand how does the flickering stops when i move mouse or touch pad. Or when the screen saver is active.

I connected it to an external display via HDMI and it was not flickering along with the MBP but as the display shuts off the external monitor also goes blank.

My logic board was replaced some months back because of an issue

Please help!!!

Thanks

Niranjan

again crashed now its not showing sleep wake failure in the message window but is showing in the report

Unable to attach the complete report posting the few initial lines and closing lines.

Thank you

I think it is the sleep wake function that it is triggering this and not the screen. Try turning off the sleep mode for a few days in preferences and see if it stops doing it. Post what you find so we can troubleshoot further

Go to power adapter and uncheck "Prevent computer from sleeping..." and in battery uncheck "Enable Power nap..."

von

its already in that mode.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I tried doing that ( i am relatively new to mac and please tell me if i am doing wrong)

Preferences> Energy saver> turned off 'put hard disk to sleep when possible'

the power nap option is also off

Its is still flickering :-(

von

why did you post "solved" when you didn't even do one resolution.... only a "maybe might work, let me know in a few days"..... that's not solved at all !!!!~!

I had to go into energy saver and untick the box that says “automatic graphics switching” haven’t had a flicker since. This makes me think it is a problem with one of the graphics cards and the OS
