Keeps going to "battery charging" screen after repair

After replacing the screen and volume, power cable the unit started up okay after charging and resetting. Now, after turning on the unit, everything seems good, but then a few seconds later the screen changes to the battery charging screen "slide to unlock", and then to "slide to power off" or Cancel. After canceling it goes back to the battery charging screen. Sliding to unlock just starts the cycle over.
